ANNUAL EXHIBITION 2010
Maidstone Camera Club will be holding their Annual Exhibition in the Mall/Chequers Shopping Centre during the week 16th to 22nd August 2010. We look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones and will be offering our usual £10 discount to new members joining at the exhibition.
KCPA ANNUAL EXHIBITION 2010
81 Prints and 20 Slides were entered by Club Members for the KCPA Annual Exhibition with the following results: -
20 Prints were accepted with the following awards being made - 1 Gold Medal and 1 PAGB Ribbon to Helen Cooper and 3 Highly Commendeds to Ray Bridges, LRPS, CPAGB, BPE2* and of the 3 slides accepted Chris Moncrieff, LBAPA, BPE4* was awarded a PAGB Ribbon and one Highly Commended and Malcolm Lofthouse was awarded a Highly Commended.
MARLEY MEDALLION TROPHY
On Friday 6th March 2009 the Marley Medallion Competition was hosted by Staplehurst Photographic Society and judged by Jack Bates, FRPS, MPAGB. This is an annual event between five Maidstone Clubs with each club entering 5 prints and 5 digital projected images. The winner being the club with the highest overall scores. This year Maidstone Camera Club was declared the winners with Staplehurst P.S. a close runner up. Maidstone had the added honour of being awarded certificates for Best Print and Best Digital Projected Image (click here to see the winning entry).
The medallion was originally awarded to George Marley, a member of the Maidstone & District Photographic Society, in 1922. He subsequently donated it to the club to be competed for by local clubs. There is no record of the medallion for the next 50 years. In 1972 the medallion was encased in a acrylic block by Mike Jones with John Arnold making the aluminum stand on which it is mounted; with the first recorded club to win it being Reeds Aylesford Camera Club in 1972.
The participating clubs at present are: Maidstone Camera Club, Staplehurst Photographic Society, Invicta Photographic Society, Tovil Camera Club and Malling Photographic Society.

kindly sponsered by The Mall/Chequers,was a succes as usual despite only having a quarter rather than a half of the area. The winner of the public ballot for the Best Picture in the Exhibition is:
Helen Cooper with her print entitled Female Red Veined Darter Dragonfly

in 2nd place is Chris Couch with New Kid on the Block

and 3rd place went to Peter Brook, LRPS with Frosty Morning on the River

The season started well on 1st September 2009 with an interesting and entertaining evening entitled 'As I See It' presented by Richard Walton, FRPS, MPAGB, EFIAP, BPE3* showing and talking about some of his pictures.
The pictures of last seasons winning competiton entries are still available to view by clicking on the the appropriate competition.These will be replaced with the new winners as and when the 2009/2010 competitions take place.
